| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Victor Treviño Jr. of Laredo for his outstanding |

| 4 | 4 | | achievements as an Ironman competitor; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ironman competitions are among the most grueling |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | athletic events in the world; an Ironman competition consists of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride, and a 26.2-mile run; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Victor Treviño Jr. first became interested in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Ironman training while he was living in Hawaii, where the Ironman |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | world championship is held; he began working out as a means to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | lose weight and to improve his self-worth, but he has far |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | exceeded his original goal and has become one of the leading |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Ironman athletes in the world; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, He has qualified for and scheduled to compete in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the 2017 Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, on |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | October 14, 2017; he takes great pride in the fact that he has |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | been able to train for this prestigious event in his hometown |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of Laredo, where he also serves as a coach and mentor to other |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | athletes; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Victor Treviño Jr. has been an exemplary ambassador |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | for his community and his state, and he is truly deserving of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | special recognition for his hard work and determination, his |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | impressive endurance and skill, and his commitment to athletic |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | excellence; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Victor Treviño |

| 27 | 27 | | Jr. on his outstanding achievements in Ironman competition and |

| 28 | 28 | | extend to him best wishes for continued success in all of his |
