SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 64 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Victor Treviño Jr. of Laredo for his outstanding achievements as an Ironman competitor; and WHEREAS, Ironman competitions are among the most grueling athletic events in the world; an Ironman competition consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride, and a 26.2-mile run; and WHEREAS, Victor Treviño Jr. first became interested in Ironman training while he was living in Hawaii, where the Ironman world championship is held; he began working out as a means to lose weight and to improve his self-worth, but he has far exceeded his original goal and has become one of the leading Ironman athletes in the world; and WHEREAS, He has qualified for and scheduled to compete in the 2017 Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, on October 14, 2017; he takes great pride in the fact that he has been able to train for this prestigious event in his hometown of Laredo, where he also serves as a coach and mentor to other athletes; and WHEREAS, Victor Treviño Jr. has been an exemplary ambassador for his community and his state, and he is truly deserving of special recognition for his hard work and determination, his impressive endurance and skill, and his commitment to athletic excellence; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Victor Treviño Jr. on his outstanding achievements in Ironman competition and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all of his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
