| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great pride |

| 3 | 3 | | in recognizing David Hall on the occasion of his retirement as |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | executive director of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid after 42 years of |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | exemplary service; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, David Hall first came to the organization in 1970, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | when it was still known as Texas Rural Legal Aid; he became |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | executive director in 1975 and was instrumental in the merger |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | with four other legal aid organizations that created Texas |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | RioGrande Legal Aid; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his distinguished career, he |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | has played a vital role in a wide range of landmark legal cases |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | that have benefited the impoverished and underserved Texans that |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | live in colonias, barrios, and poor neighborhoods; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Under Mr. Hall's outstanding leadership, Texas |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | RioGrande Legal Aid has become the nation's third-largest legal |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | aid provider, with 175 attorneys providing service to more than |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 25,000 clients annually in Texas and other states across the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | South; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, David Hall is known for his fearless advocacy, his |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | compassion, and his steadfast commitment to fighting for social |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | justice, and he has had a profound impact on the lives of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | countless men and women; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend David Hall on his |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | exceptional leadership as executive director of Texas RioGrande |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legal Aid and on his extraordinary record of principled and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | compassionate service to those in need; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 30 | 30 | | him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
