SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 71 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great pride in recognizing David Hall on the occasion of his retirement as executive director of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid after 42 years of exemplary service; and WHEREAS, David Hall first came to the organization in 1970, when it was still known as Texas Rural Legal Aid; he became executive director in 1975 and was instrumental in the merger with four other legal aid organizations that created Texas RioGrande Legal Aid; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his distinguished career, he has played a vital role in a wide range of landmark legal cases that have benefited the impoverished and underserved Texans that live in colonias, barrios, and poor neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, Under Mr. Hall's outstanding leadership, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid has become the nation's third-largest legal aid provider, with 175 attorneys providing service to more than 25,000 clients annually in Texas and other states across the South; and WHEREAS, David Hall is known for his fearless advocacy, his compassion, and his steadfast commitment to fighting for social justice, and he has had a profound impact on the lives of countless men and women; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend David Hall on his exceptional leadership as executive director of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid and on his extraordinary record of principled and compassionate service to those in need; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
