| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Sister Rosalia Fink for her exceptional work as founder |

| 4 | 4 | | and executive director of the South Texas Empowerment of Women |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Center; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sister Rosalia Fink, along with Sister Jeannine |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | T. Spain, founded the South Texas Empowerment of Women Center in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | January of 2010; the center's mission is to serve as a catalyst |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | for peace, safety, and nonviolence in the home; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The center advocates for intervention and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | prevention activities to decrease the incidence of domestic |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | violence, promotes safety measures for those affected by |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | domestic violence, educates the public to raise awareness of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | domestic violence, seeks coordination between governmental |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | agencies, courts, and service organizations to address domestic |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | violence, and provides effective techniques for preventing |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | domestic violence; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Sister Fink has worked tirelessly to make the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | South Texas Empowerment of Women Center a place where the victims |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of domestic violence and abuse can receive the help they need to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | lead safe and productive lives and where women and children can |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | find shelter; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Sister Rosalia Fink has had a profound impact on |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the lives of countless people, and it is truly fitting that she |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | receive special recognition for her remarkable work and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | outstanding leadership; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Sister Rosalia |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Fink on her commitment to helping the victims of domestic |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | violence and abuse and extend to her best wishes for continued |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | success in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
