SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 75 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Sister Rosalia Fink for her exceptional work as founder and executive director of the South Texas Empowerment of Women Center; and WHEREAS, Sister Rosalia Fink, along with Sister Jeannine T. Spain, founded the South Texas Empowerment of Women Center in January of 2010; the center's mission is to serve as a catalyst for peace, safety, and nonviolence in the home; and WHEREAS, The center advocates for intervention and prevention activities to decrease the incidence of domestic violence, promotes safety measures for those affected by domestic violence, educates the public to raise awareness of domestic violence, seeks coordination between governmental agencies, courts, and service organizations to address domestic violence, and provides effective techniques for preventing domestic violence; and WHEREAS, Sister Fink has worked tirelessly to make the South Texas Empowerment of Women Center a place where the victims of domestic violence and abuse can receive the help they need to lead safe and productive lives and where women and children can find shelter; and WHEREAS, Sister Rosalia Fink has had a profound impact on the lives of countless people, and it is truly fitting that she receive special recognition for her remarkable work and outstanding leadership; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Sister Rosalia Fink on her commitment to helping the victims of domestic violence and abuse and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
