| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Texarkana Noon Lions Club is celebrating its |

| 3 | 3 | | centennial in 2017, and this occasion provides a fitting |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | opportunity to celebrate its members' tireless efforts in behalf |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | of their fellow citizens; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A Founder Club of Lions Clubs International, one |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of the most successful service organizations in American |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | history, the Texarkana Noon Lions Club was chartered by 40 local |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | businessmen on February 19, 1917; since its inception, its |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | members have embraced the goals of Lions International, seeking |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | to better their communities and the lives of people at home and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | around the world; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Texarkana Noon Lions have had a long |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | association with the Boy Scouts of America, and they played a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | leading role in the establishment of Camp Preston Hunt, which was |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | named for a member of the club; the group has also provided |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | support to many worthy charities and causes, including Toys for |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Tots, Shop with a Cop, the Salvation Army, Watersprings Ranch, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Wounded Warrior Project, scholarships for students, and the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | local animal shelter; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Committed to the Lions International mission of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | promoting eye health, preventing blindness, and restoring sight, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the Texarkana Noon Lions Club also joins in sponsoring eye banks, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | eyeglass recycling centers, vision screenings, and medical |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | research; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Under the motto "We Serve," the public-spirited |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | members of the Texarkana Noon Lions Club continue to give |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | generously of their time and talents to help those in need and to |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | promote the welfare of their community, and it is a pleasure to |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | recognize this momentous milestone as they look forward to |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | another outstanding century of service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the 100th |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | anniversary of the Texarkana Noon Lions Club and extend to its |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | members sincere best wishes for continued success in their |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | important work; and, be it further |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | the Texarkana Noon Lions Club as an expression of high regard |
|---|
