| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 2, Article 42.03, Code of Criminal | |
| 11 | 11 | Procedure, is amended by adding Subsection (a-1) to read as | |
| 12 | 12 | follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (a-1) In addition to the credit on the defendant's sentence | |
| 14 | 14 | given under Subsection (a), for each day of confinement described | |
| 15 | 15 | by Subdivision (1) of that subsection, the judge shall give the | |
| 16 | 16 | defendant, at a rate of $100 per day, credit toward payment of costs | |
| 17 | 17 | imposed on the defendant. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a | |
| 19 | 19 | defendant who is sentenced for an offense on or after the effective | |
| 20 | 20 | date of this Act, regardless of whether the offense is committed | |
| 21 | 21 | before, on, or after the effective date of this Act. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
