66 AN ACT
77 relating to increasing the criminal penalty for violations of the
88 Antiquities Code of Texas.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 191.171(a), Natural Resources Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 (a) A person violating any of the provisions of this chapter
1313 is guilty of a Class B misdemeanor[, and on conviction shall be
1414 punished by a fine of not less than $50 and not more than $1,000, by
1515 confinement in jail for not more than 30 days, or by both].
1616 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
1717 to an offense committed on or after the effective date of this Act.
1818 An offense committed before the effective date of this Act is
1919 governed by the law in effect on the date the offense was committed,
2020 and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. For
2121 purposes of this section, an offense was committed before the
2222 effective date of this Act if any element of the offense occurred
2323 before that date.
2424 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
