410 AN ACT
511 relating to the fiscal year of certain political subdivisions.
612 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
713 SECTION 1. Chapter 140, Local Government Code, is amended
814 by adding Section 140.012 to read as follows:
915 Sec. 140.012. FISCAL YEAR OF CERTAIN POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS
1016 CREATED ON OR AFTER SEPTEMBER 1, 2019. (a) This section does not
1117 apply to a political subdivision that is a special district created
1218 under Section 52, Article III, or Section 59, Article XVI, Texas
1319 Constitution.
1420 (b) A political subdivision that is created on or after
1521 September 1, 2019, and that has authority to impose a tax must have
1622 the same fiscal year as the county in which the political
1723 subdivision is wholly or primarily located.
1824 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
