A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to access to information related to investigations by the
Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 1004, Transportation Code, is amended by
adding Section 1004.003 to read as follows:
Sec. 1004.003. CONFIDENTIALITY OF INFORMATION RELATED TO
INVESTIGATIONS. Except as necessary to comply with Section
2301.202, Occupations Code, information obtained during an
investigation of a person regulated under Chapter 2301 or 2302,
Occupations Code, or Chapter 503 or 643 of this code is confidential
and not subject to disclosure under Chapter 552, Government Code,
until the investigation is dismissed or finally resolved.
SECTION 2. Section 2301.612, Occupations Code, is repealed.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
