6	5		AN ACT
7	6		relating to requiring the incorporation of instruction in digital
8		-	citizenship into the ~~curriculum of certain~~ school ~~districts~~.

9	8		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
10	9		SECTION 1. Section 28.002, Education Code, is amended by
11	10		adding Subsection (z) to read as follows:
12	11		(z) The State Board of Education by rule shall require each
13		-	school district with an enrollment of at least 3,250 students to
14		-	incorporate instruction in digital citizenship into the district's
15		-	curriculum. In this subsection, "digital citizenship" means the
16		-	standards of appropriate, responsible, and healthy online
17		-	behavior, including the ability to access, analyze, evaluate,
18		-	create, and act on all forms of digital communication.

22		-	A school district is required to implement a
23		-	provision of this Act only if the legislature appropriates money to
24		-	the Texas Education Agency that is provided to school districts
25		-	specifically for that purpose. If the legislature does not
26		-	appropriate money that is provided to school districts specifically
27		-	for that purpose, a school district may, but is not required to,
28		-	implement a provision of this Act using other appropriations
29		-	available for that purpose.
30		-	SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
