| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 111.092, Local Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 111.092. [DEPARTMENTAL] EXPENSES NOT TO EXCEED | |
| 13 | 13 | APPROPRIATIONS. The county auditor shall oversee the warrant | |
| 14 | 14 | process to ensure that: | |
| 15 | 15 | (1) the expenses of any department do not exceed the | |
| 16 | 16 | budget appropriations for that department; and | |
| 17 | 17 | (2) the expenses for each budgeted item in the budget | |
| 18 | 18 | do not exceed the budget appropriations for that item. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
