55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the adoption of instructional materials for the
88 technology applications curriculum in public schools.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 31.023, Education Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1212 (c) In adopting the list of instructional materials for the
1313 technology applications curriculum, the State Board of Education
1414 must include instructional materials that cover the essential
1515 knowledge and skills for the digital citizenship strand of the
1616 curriculum for each grade level in which digital citizenship is
1717 required to be covered.
1818 SECTION 2. Section 31.023(c), Education Code, as added by
1919 this Act, applies only to an instructional material list adopted on
2020 or after the effective date of this Act. An instructional material
2121 list adopted before the effective date of this Act is governed by
2222 the law in effect when the instructional material list was adopted,
2323 and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
2424 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
