9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 31.023, Education Code, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c) In adopting the list of instructional materials for the | |
13 | 13 | technology applications curriculum, the State Board of Education | |
14 | 14 | must include instructional materials that cover the essential | |
15 | 15 | knowledge and skills for the digital citizenship strand of the | |
16 | 16 | curriculum for each grade level in which digital citizenship is | |
17 | 17 | required to be covered. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. Section 31.023(c), Education Code, as added by | |
19 | 19 | this Act, applies only to an instructional material list adopted on | |
20 | 20 | or after the effective date of this Act. An instructional material | |
21 | 21 | list adopted before the effective date of this Act is governed by | |
22 | 22 | the law in effect when the instructional material list was adopted, | |
23 | 23 | and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
