 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the adoption of instructional materials for the
 technology applications curriculum in public schools.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 31.023, Education Code, is amended by
 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
 (c)  In adopting the list of instructional materials for the
 technology applications curriculum, the State Board of Education
 must include instructional materials that cover the essential
 knowledge and skills for the digital citizenship strand of the
 curriculum for each grade level in which digital citizenship is
 required to be covered.
 SECTION 2.  Section 31.023(c), Education Code, as added by
 this Act, applies only to an instructional material list adopted on
 or after the effective date of this Act. An instructional material
 list adopted before the effective date of this Act is governed by
 the law in effect when the instructional material list was adopted,
 and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
