66 AN ACT
77 relating to the qualifications necessary for a political party to
88 have the names of its nominees placed on the ballot.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 181.005(b), Election Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (b) A political party is entitled to have the names of its
1313 nominees placed on the ballot, without qualifying under Subsection
1414 (a), in each subsequent general election following a general
1515 election in which the party had a nominee for a statewide office who
1616 received a number of votes equal to at least 10 [five] percent of
1717 the total number of votes received by all candidates for that
1818 office.
1919 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
