| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 152.0811, Human Resources Code, is | |
| 10 | 10 | amended by amending Subsections (a) and (b) and adding Subsections | |
| 11 | 11 | (a-1) and (d) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) The juvenile board of Fayette County is composed of: | |
| 13 | 13 | (1) the county judge; | |
| 14 | 14 | (2) [and] the judge of each [a] district court in | |
| 15 | 15 | Fayette County; | |
| 16 | 16 | (3) the judge of each statutory county court in | |
| 17 | 17 | Fayette County; and | |
| 18 | 18 | (4) a public member only if the total number of board | |
| 19 | 19 | members described by Subdivisions (1)-(3) is fewer than three or is | |
| 20 | 20 | an even number [as determined by the commissioners court]. | |
| 21 | 21 | (a-1) A public member who serves on the board must be | |
| 22 | 22 | appointed by a majority of the other members of the board. The | |
| 23 | 23 | public member serves a two-year term. | |
| 24 | 24 | (b) The commissioners court may pay the juvenile board | |
| 25 | 25 | members [additional annual] compensation of [not more than] $1,200 | |
| 26 | 26 | annually for the [added] duties imposed on the members. The | |
| 27 | 27 | [additional] compensation shall be paid in equal monthly | |
| 28 | 28 | installments from the general fund or any other available fund of | |
| 29 | 29 | the county. | |
| 30 | 30 | (d) The board member who has the greatest number of years of | |
| 31 | 31 | judicial service and is willing to serve is the chair of the board. | |
| 32 | 32 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
