55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the juvenile board of Fayette County.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 152.0811, Human Resources Code, is
1010 amended by amending Subsections (a) and (b) and adding Subsections
1111 (a-1) and (d) to read as follows:
1212 (a) The juvenile board of Fayette County is composed of:
1313 (1) the county judge;
1414 (2) [and] the judge of each [a] district court in
1515 Fayette County;
1616 (3) the judge of each statutory county court in
1717 Fayette County; and
1818 (4) a public member only if the total number of board
1919 members described by Subdivisions (1)-(3) is fewer than three or is
2020 an even number [as determined by the commissioners court].
2121 (a-1) A public member who serves on the board must be
2222 appointed by a majority of the other members of the board. The
2323 public member serves a two-year term.
2424 (b) The commissioners court may pay the juvenile board
2525 members [additional annual] compensation of [not more than] $1,200
2626 annually for the [added] duties imposed on the members. The
2727 [additional] compensation shall be paid in equal monthly
2828 installments from the general fund or any other available fund of
2929 the county.
3030 (d) The board member who has the greatest number of years of
3131 judicial service and is willing to serve is the chair of the board.
3232 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
