125 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
136 AN ACT
147 relating to the salaries of the superintendent of the Texas School
158 for the Blind and Visually Impaired and the superintendent of the
169 Texas School for the Deaf.
1710 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1811 SECTION 1. Section 30.023(d), Education Code, is amended to
1912 read as follows:
2013 (d) The board shall annually establish the superintendent's
2114 salary. [The annual salary may not exceed 120 percent of the annual
2215 salary of the highest paid instructional administrator at the
2316 school.]
2417 SECTION 2. Section 30.053(d), Education Code, is amended to
2518 read as follows:
2619 (d) The board shall annually establish the superintendent's
2720 salary. [The annual salary may not exceed 120 percent of the annual
2821 salary of the highest paid instructional administrator at the
2922 school.]
30- SECTION 3. This Act applies to an initial employment
31- contract that is entered into between the superintendent and the
32- governing board of the Texas School for the Blind and Visually
33- Impaired or the governing board of the Texas School for the Deaf, as
34- appropriate, on or after the effective date of this Act. An
35- employment contract that is initially entered into before the
36- effective date of this Act is governed by the law as it existed at
37- the time the contract was entered into, and the former law remains
38- in effect for that purpose.
23+ SECTION 3. This Act applies to an employment contract that
24+ is entered into or renewed on or after the effective date of this
25+ Act. An employment contract that is entered into or renewed before
26+ the effective date of this Act is governed by the law as it existed
27+ at the time the contract was entered into or renewed, and the former
28+ law remains in effect for that purpose.
3929 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
4030 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
4131 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
4232 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4333 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
