55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the jurisdiction of the statutory county courts of
88 Cooke County in family law matters.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 25.0512, Government Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsections (a) and (b) to read as follows:
1212 (a) In addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section
1313 25.0003 and other law, a county court at law in Cooke County has
1414 concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in family law cases
1515 and proceedings.
1616 (b) The district clerk serves as clerk of a county court at
1717 law in family law cases and proceedings, and the county clerk serves
1818 as clerk of the court in all other cases and proceedings.
1919 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2020 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2121 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2222 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2323 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
