49 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
510 WHEREAS, For more than 90 years, Texas Southern University
611 has played an important role in higher education in the Lone Star
712 State, and while the school currently offers baccalaureate,
813 master's, and doctoral degree programs in numerous schools, it does
914 not have a divinity program or a school of religion; now, therefore,
1015 be it
1116 RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas
1217 hereby direct the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to
1318 conduct a study on the creation of a divinity program, from
1419 undergraduate to doctoral degrees, at Texas Southern University
1520 with a goal to establish a program before the start of the 87th
1621 regular legislative session; and, be it further
1722 RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official
1823 copy of this resolution to the chair of the Texas Higher Education
1924 Coordinating Board.
