| 5 | 10 | | WHEREAS, For more than 90 years, Texas Southern University |

| 6 | 11 | | has played an important role in higher education in the Lone Star |

| 7 | 12 | | State, and while the school currently offers baccalaureate, |

| 8 | 13 | | master's, and doctoral degree programs in numerous schools, it does |

| 9 | 14 | | not have a divinity program or a school of religion; now, therefore, |

| 11 | 16 | | RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas |

| 12 | 17 | | hereby direct the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to |

| 13 | 18 | | conduct a study on the creation of a divinity program, from |
|---|
| 14 | 19 | | undergraduate to doctoral degrees, at Texas Southern University |

| 15 | 20 | | with a goal to establish a program before the start of the 87th |

| 16 | 21 | | regular legislative session; and, be it further |
