5+ CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
56 WHEREAS, The Honorable Rodney W. Satterwhite retired as judge
67 of the 441st Judicial District Court of Midland County in January
78 2019, concluding more than nine years of outstanding service; and
89 WHEREAS, An alumnus of Midland High School, Rodney
910 Satterwhite earned his bachelor's degree from The University of
1011 Texas before graduating from the UT School of Law in 1969; he served
1112 in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 as chief military justice for the
1213 13th Support Brigade at Fort Hood and as a legal officer in Vietnam;
1314 after returning to Midland, he practiced law for 38 years at
1415 Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy, Laughlin & Browder, Inc.; and
1516 WHEREAS, Governor Rick Perry appointed Mr. Satterwhite as
1617 judge of the newly created 441st District Court in 2009, and he was
1718 reelected to the position in 2010 and 2014; he has further
1819 distinguished himself as a member of The University of Texas
1920 Chancellor's Council Executive Committee and the International and
2021 Texas Associations of Defense Counsel and as a Texas commissioner
2122 for the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws;
2223 and
2324 WHEREAS, Engaged in his community, Judge Satterwhite has
2425 served as a director of the United Way of Midland, as a campaign
2526 chair for the Midland American Cancer Society, and as a community
2627 advisor for the Junior League of Midland; in his leisure time, he
2728 enjoys golfing and spending time with his grandchildren; and
2829 WHEREAS, Judge Satterwhite has greatly benefited his fellow
2930 citizens through his dedicated service to the 441st Judicial
3031 District, and he may reflect with pride on his many contributions;
3132 now, therefore, be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas
3334 hereby congratulate the Honorable Rodney W. Satterwhite on his
3435 retirement as judge of the 441st Judicial District Court and extend
3536 to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3637 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3738 prepared for Judge Satterwhite as an expression of high regard by
3839 the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
