9 | 10 | | Satterwhite earned his bachelor's degree from The University of |

10 | 11 | | Texas before graduating from the UT School of Law in 1969; he served |

11 | 12 | | in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 as chief military justice for the |
---|
12 | 13 | | 13th Support Brigade at Fort Hood and as a legal officer in Vietnam; |

13 | 14 | | after returning to Midland, he practiced law for 38 years at |
---|
14 | 15 | | Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy, Laughlin & Browder, Inc.; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Governor Rick Perry appointed Mr. Satterwhite as |

16 | 17 | | judge of the newly created 441st District Court in 2009, and he was |
---|
17 | 18 | | reelected to the position in 2010 and 2014; he has further |
---|
18 | 19 | | distinguished himself as a member of The University of Texas |
---|
19 | 20 | | Chancellor's Council Executive Committee and the International and |
---|
20 | 21 | | Texas Associations of Defense Counsel and as a Texas commissioner |
---|
21 | 22 | | for the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws; |
---|

23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Engaged in his community, Judge Satterwhite has |

24 | 25 | | served as a director of the United Way of Midland, as a campaign |
---|
25 | 26 | | chair for the Midland American Cancer Society, and as a community |

26 | 27 | | advisor for the Junior League of Midland; in his leisure time, he |
---|
27 | 28 | | enjoys golfing and spending time with his grandchildren; and |
---|
28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Judge Satterwhite has greatly benefited his fellow |
---|
29 | 30 | | citizens through his dedicated service to the 441st Judicial |
---|
30 | 31 | | District, and he may reflect with pride on his many contributions; |
---|
31 | 32 | | now, therefore, be it |

32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas |

33 | 34 | | hereby congratulate the Honorable Rodney W. Satterwhite on his |
