45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
67 mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Melvin and Sarah Long
78 of Childress celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on
89 August 24, 2018; and
910 WHEREAS, High school sweethearts, Melvin Matthew Long and the
1011 former Sarah Ann Holland were joined in matrimony in 1968 at the
1112 First United Methodist Church in their hometown of Estelline; over
1213 the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that
1314 includes their children, Staci Fair and her husband, Mike, Melanie
1415 Cummins and her husband, Todd, and Donna Smith and her husband,
1516 Marty, as well as their grandchildren, Matthew and Marcilete Fair,
1617 Jacob and Jared Cummins, and Michael and Cole Smith; and
1718 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Long previously resided in Lubbock and
1819 later returned to Estelline, where they lived for many years before
1920 making their home in Childress; and
2021 WHEREAS, This esteemed couple have enjoyed five decades of
2122 abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an
2223 exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
2324 commitment; now, therefore, be it
2425 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
2526 Legislature hereby congratulate Melvin and Sarah Long on their
2627 golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
2728 for continued happiness; and, be it further
2829 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2930 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Long as an expression of high regard by
3031 the Texas House of Representatives.
