H.R. No. 1110 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Melvin and Sarah Long of Childress celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on August 24, 2018; and WHEREAS, High school sweethearts, Melvin Matthew Long and the former Sarah Ann Holland were joined in matrimony in 1968 at the First United Methodist Church in their hometown of Estelline; over the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes their children, Staci Fair and her husband, Mike, Melanie Cummins and her husband, Todd, and Donna Smith and her husband, Marty, as well as their grandchildren, Matthew and Marcilete Fair, Jacob and Jared Cummins, and Michael and Cole Smith; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Long previously resided in Lubbock and later returned to Estelline, where they lived for many years before making their home in Childress; and WHEREAS, This esteemed couple have enjoyed five decades of abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Melvin and Sarah Long on their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Long as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
