| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Area Texans are joining together on May 18, 2019, to |

| 6 | 7 | | celebrate the grand reopening of the Grand Prairie Animal Services |

| 7 | 8 | | and Adoption Center; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, First opened in 2003, the Grand Prairie Animal |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Services and Adoption Center has been undergoing an expansion and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | renovation project since March 2017 to accommodate the influx of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | homeless animals in the city; with the remodeling of the facility, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | the shelter has effectively tripled its cat capacity, doubled its |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | dog capacity, and added outdoor play spaces as well as a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | "Get-to-Know-You" courtyard for dogs; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Made possible by the diligent and cooperative |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | efforts of many community leaders, the remodeled shelter is |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | equipped with a new air-conditioning system that provides improved |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | air filtering and a healthier environment for the animals; |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | furthermore, the facility now includes an upgraded spay and neuter |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | clinic, which will increase the number of surgeries performed each |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | week; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The newly refurbished Grand Prairie Animal Services |

| 23 | 24 | | and Adoption Center will serve as an invaluable resource for the |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | community for years to come, and all those who contributed to its |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | renovation and expansion may indeed take justifiable pride in |

| 26 | 27 | | bringing this project to fruition; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the reopening of the Grand Prairie |

| 29 | 30 | | Animal Services and Adoption Center and extend to all those |

| 30 | 31 | | associated with the organization sincere best wishes for continued |
