H.R. No. 1347
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ben Dixon received well-deserved recognition when
he was presented with an Excellence in Secondary Teaching Award at
the Plano Independent School District 2018 Teacher of the Year
Gala; and
WHEREAS, A science teacher at Bird Special Programs Center,
Ben Dixon joined the faculty in 2014; he works tirelessly to help
middle school students advance academically and overcome
challenges with behavior, self-esteem, and other issues; providing
extra tutoring and support as needed, he is a caring mentor and
strong role model, and he often remains in contact with parents even
after their children have gone on to other schools; he also serves
as coordinator of the accelerated learning program and as middle
school team leader, and he is a member of the Core Team and of many
district-wide committees; and
WHEREAS, Ben Dixon exemplifies the passion, determination,
and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers,
and he has set a standard of excellence to which all in his
profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ben Dixon on his receipt of a 2018
Plano ISD Excellence in Secondary Teaching Award and extend to him
sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Dixon as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
