| 7 | 8 | | organizations are gathering in Austin on February 19, 2019, for |

| 8 | 9 | | Nurse Day at the State Capitol; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Approximately 320,000 registered nurses and 106,000 |

| 10 | 11 | | licensed vocational nurses care for Texans each day in hospitals, |

| 11 | 12 | | nursing homes, home health agencies, and other settings, and their |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | work is vital to the quality of health care in the state; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Nurses are consistently rated by the Gallup Poll |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | each year as the highest-ranked professionals for honesty and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | ethical standards, and across the profession, they share a mission |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | for promoting excellence in patient care, both at the bedside and in |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | the public arena; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Through their deep commitment to the health and |

| 19 | 20 | | well-being of their patients and their advocacy on behalf of |

| 20 | 21 | | quality health care, Texas nurses have earned the lasting respect, |

| 21 | 22 | | admiration, and appreciation of their fellow citizens; now, |
