R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Nurses Association, the
Licensed Vocational Nurses Association of Texas, and other nursing
organizations are gathering in Austin on February 19, 2019, for
Nurse Day at the State Capitol; and
WHEREAS, Approximately 320,000 registered nurses and 106,000
licensed vocational nurses care for Texans each day in hospitals,
nursing homes, home health agencies, and other settings, and their
work is vital to the quality of health care in the state; and
WHEREAS, Nurses are consistently rated by the Gallup Poll
each year as the highest-ranked professionals for honesty and
ethical standards, and across the profession, they share a mission
for promoting excellence in patient care, both at the bedside and in
the public arena; and
WHEREAS, Through their deep commitment to the health and
well-being of their patients and their advocacy on behalf of
quality health care, Texas nurses have earned the lasting respect,
admiration, and appreciation of their fellow citizens; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize February 19, 2019, as Nurse Day at the
State Capitol and commend all nurses for their invaluable service
to the Lone Star State.
