H.R. No. 571
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Angela Miner is retiring from the Plano City Council
in 2019, drawing to a close an exemplary tenure in office; and
WHEREAS, Elected to Place 1 on the city council in 2015,
Ms. Miner has served in various capacities over the course of her
four-year term, including as deputy mayor pro tem, and she has held
membership with the National League of Cities' Public Safety &
Crime Prevention Committee and Women in Municipal Government; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Miner has also devoted her time and talents to
the Plano Independent School District Council of PTAs, serving as
president and holding leadership roles on numerous boards; she
received Lifetime Achievement Awards from both the Texas PTA and
National PTA in honor of her tireless work in behalf of area
children; in addition, she has been involved with such groups as the
Plano ISD Education Foundation, the Women's Auxiliary to Children's
Medical Center Plano, and Women Making A Difference In Plano; born
in Australia and raised in Athens, Greece, Ms. Miner has resided in
Plano since 1996, and in 2017, she garnered the Immigrant Spirit
Award for her significant contributions to her community; and
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Miner enjoys the love and
support of her husband, Pat, and she takes great pride in their two
daughters and two granddaughters; and
WHEREAS, Angela Miner's dedication, expertise, and
commitment to the prosperity of her community have greatly
benefited the residents of Plano, and she may indeed reflect with
pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Angela Miner on her retirement from
the Plano City Council and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Miner as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
