 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Members of Texas DNA and Adoptee Search Support are
 gathering on April 25, 2019, to celebrate the group's legislative
 day at the State Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, Established on April 17, 2015, to promote DNA
 education and direct-to-consumer DNA testing, Texas DNA and Adoptee
 Search Support represents the interest of Texans concerned with
 accuracy in recording their own genealogical origins; and
 WHEREAS, The group is composed of more than 1,600 members who
 were born in or have genealogical connections to the state of Texas;
 it is aligned with the International Society of Genetic Genealogy
 and its mission to advocate for and educate about the use of
 genetics as a tool for genealogical research, while also helping to
 build a supportive network for genetic genealogists; and
 WHEREAS, In its work to enhance the public's understanding of
 the use of DNA for genealogical purposes, the group conducts
 educational presentations for individuals, civic organizations,
 and genealogical societies; it is also a valuable resource for
 Texans looking to identifying their genetic origins, preserve their
 family history, and connect with newly discovered relatives; and
 WHEREAS, Texas DNA and Adoptee Search Support serves as a
 voice for those who seek to understand their heritage and encourage
 ethical practices in direct-to-consumer DNA testing, and the
 organization's legislative day provides a welcome opportunity to
 commend its membership for their dedicated efforts; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize April 25, 2019, as Texas DNA and
 Adoptee Search Support Day at the State Capitol and extend to the
 members here today sincere best wishes for an enjoyable visit to
 Austin.
