5+ A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
46 AN ACT
57 relating to the sequencing of certain required mathematics courses
68 in public schools.
79 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
810 SECTION 1. Section 28.025, Education Code, is amended by
911 adding Subsection (b-6) to read as follows:
1012 (b-6) A school district may allow a student to enroll
1113 concurrently in Algebra I and geometry.
1214 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020
1315 school year.
1416 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1517 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1618 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
1719 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1820 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
