A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the award of grants from the skills development fund.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 303.003, Labor Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (b-3) to read as follows:
(b-3) Funds awarded under this section, other than funds
awarded under Subsection (b-2), may be awarded only to support
job-training purposes that address the needs of high-demand
occupations, as identified by:
(1) the applicable local workforce development board's
regional targeted or high-demand occupations list; or
(2) the commission's most recent growth occupations
report under Section 302.019.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
