| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 142.009, Health and Safety Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended by adding Subsection (a-2) to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (a-2) The commission shall investigate abuse, neglect, and | |
| 14 | 14 | exploitation of a client, including a child as required by Section | |
| 15 | 15 | 261.401(b), Family Code, admitted to a residential or inpatient | |
| 16 | 16 | unit under this chapter. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date | |
| 18 | 18 | of this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human | |
| 19 | 19 | Services Commission shall adopt rules necessary to implement this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
