A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the authority to investigate abuse, neglect, or
exploitation of children and adults in a residential or inpatient
hospice facility.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 142.009, Health and Safety Code, is
amended by adding Subsection (a-2) to read as follows:
(a-2) The commission shall investigate abuse, neglect, and
exploitation of a client, including a child as required by Section
261.401(b), Family Code, admitted to a residential or inpatient
unit under this chapter.
SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
of this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human
Services Commission shall adopt rules necessary to implement this
Act.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
