9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 1951.212(c), Occupations Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c) The department shall include in standards adopted under | |
13 | 13 | this section a: | |
14 | 14 | (1) requirement to use the least toxic methods | |
15 | 15 | available to control pests, rodents, insects, and weeds; and | |
16 | 16 | (2) prohibition on the application of glyphosate or a | |
17 | 17 | neonicotinoid pesticide at a school building or other school | |
18 | 18 | district facility. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. The Department of Agriculture shall adopt | |
20 | 20 | standards under Section 1951.212(c), Occupations Code, as amended | |
21 | 21 | by this Act, as soon as practicable after the effective date of this | |
22 | 22 | Act. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
24 | 24 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
25 | 25 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
26 | 26 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
27 | 27 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
