9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. (a) The Office of Court Administration of the | |
11 | 11 | Texas Judicial System shall conduct a study regarding the use of | |
12 | 12 | forensic psychology in suits affecting the parent-child | |
13 | 13 | relationship. In conducting the study, the office shall examine: | |
14 | 14 | (1) the utility and efficacy of using forensic | |
15 | 15 | psychology to assist courts in rendering orders in the best | |
16 | 16 | interest of the child; and | |
17 | 17 | (2) the total cost of a forensic psychology evaluation | |
18 | 18 | and the feasibility of regularly requiring or providing those | |
19 | 19 | services in suits affecting the parent-child relationship. | |
20 | 20 | (b) Not later than September 1, 2020, the Office of Court | |
21 | 21 | Administration of the Texas Judicial System shall file a report | |
22 | 22 | containing the results of the study and recommendations for | |
23 | 23 | legislation with the governor, the lieutenant governor, and the | |
24 | 24 | legislature. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act expires September 1, 2021. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
