 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to a study on the use of forensic psychology in suits
 affecting the parent-child relationship.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  (a) The Office of Court Administration of the
 Texas Judicial System shall conduct a study regarding the use of
 forensic psychology in suits affecting the parent-child
 relationship. In conducting the study, the office shall examine:
 (1)  the utility and efficacy of using forensic
 psychology to assist courts in rendering orders in the best
 interest of the child; and
 (2)  the total cost of a forensic psychology evaluation
 and the feasibility of regularly requiring or providing those
 services in suits affecting the parent-child relationship.
 (b)  Not later than September 1, 2020, the Office of Court
 Administration of the Texas Judicial System shall file a report
 containing the results of the study and recommendations for
 legislation with the governor, the lieutenant governor, and the
 legislature.
 SECTION 2.  This Act expires September 1, 2021.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
