| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 531, Government Code, is | |
| 10 | 10 | amended by adding Section 531.021 to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | Sec. 531.021. MEDICAID STATE PLAN AMENDMENT REQUIRED. | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) Not later than December 31, 2019, the commission shall submit | |
| 13 | 13 | to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services an amendment to | |
| 14 | 14 | the Medicaid state plan designed to enhance the funding of and | |
| 15 | 15 | services provided by non-governmental private teaching hospitals | |
| 16 | 16 | in this state. | |
| 17 | 17 | (b) This section expires on January 1, 2020. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 19 | 19 | a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house, as | |
| 20 | 20 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
