46 AN ACT
57 relating to personal information that may be omitted from certain
68 records and licenses.
79 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
810 SECTION 1. Section 11.008(a), Property Code, is amended to
911 read as follows:
1012 (a) In this section, "instrument" means a deed, [or] deed of
1113 trust, or any other record recorded by a county clerk related to
1214 real property, including a mineral lease, a mechanic's lien, and
1315 the release of a mechanic's lien.
1416 SECTION 2. Section 25.025(b), Tax Code, is amended to read
1517 as follows:
1618 (b) Information in appraisal records under Section 25.02 is
1719 confidential and is available only for the official use of the
1820 appraisal district, this state, the comptroller, and taxing units
1921 and political subdivisions of this state if:
2022 (1) the information identifies the home address of a
2123 named individual to whom this section applies; and
2224 (2) the individual:
2325 (A) chooses to restrict public access to the
2426 information on the form prescribed for that purpose by the
2527 comptroller under Section 5.07; or
2628 (B) is a federal or state judge [as defined by
2729 Section 572.002, Government Code], or the spouse of a federal or
2830 state judge, beginning on the date the Office of Court
2931 Administration of the Texas Judicial System notifies the appraisal
3032 district of the judge's qualification for the judge's office.
3133 SECTION 3. Section 521.121(c), Transportation Code, is
3234 amended to read as follows:
3335 (c) The department shall establish a procedure, on a license
3436 holder's qualification for office as a federal or state judge as
3537 defined by Section 13.0021, Election Code [572.002, Government
3638 Code], to omit the residence address of the judge and the spouse of
3739 the judge on the license holder's license and to include, in lieu of
3840 that address, the street address of the courthouse in which the
3941 license holder or license holder's spouse serves as a federal judge
4042 or state judge.
4143 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
