SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 41 WHEREAS, Charles and Jo Ann Whiteside of Kilgore received the W. T. Tardy Service Award from East Texas Baptist University at the college's homecoming chapel service in October 2018; and WHEREAS, Dr. and Mrs. Whiteside have worked diligently to further the university's mission of providing faith-based education in East Texas; they are dedicated supporters of the university's school of communication, school of nursing, and performing arts events, and they are regular attendees of the annual Great East Texas Hymn Sing and Hilltop University conference; and WHEREAS, Longtime members of the East Texas community, Dr. and Mrs. Whiteside are devoted congregants of First Baptist Church Kilgore and serve as advocates for Baptist Student Ministry in Texas; the founder of Ana-Lab Corporation in Kilgore, Dr. Whiteside operated the company as chief executive officer for more than 60 years, and he currently serves as president emeritus; and WHEREAS, Through their commitment to upholding the traditions and values of East Texas Baptist University, Charles and Jo Ann Whiteside have made a positive difference in the lives of countless students, and they are indeed deserving of this special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby congratulate Charles and Jo Ann Whiteside on their receipt of the W. T. Tardy Service Award from East Texas Baptist University and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Dr. and Mrs. Whiteside as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
