| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Kevin J. Slater, who has been named the 2019 |

| 4 | 4 | | Entrepreneur of the Year by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An Odessa resident of 53 years, Kevin J. Slater is |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the founder of Slater Controls, Incorporated, and Autrol US, a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | distributor and manufacturer of industrial pressure and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | temperature instruments; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, He established these successful companies after |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | working his way through college and earning a degree at The |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | University of Texas of the Permian Basin; under his exemplary |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | leadership, these firms have expanded across the Southwest and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | around the world, with locations in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and South Korea; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Slater is also active in a wide range of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | community activities, including the Permian Basin International |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Oil Show, Junior Achievement, CASA of the Permian Basin, and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Harmony Home; in 2017, he received a Distinguished Alumni award |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A highly respected Odessa entrepreneur, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Mr. Slater has played an important role in the growth and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | prosperity of the region's economy, and it is truly fitting that |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | he receive special recognition for his many achievements; now, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Kevin J. Slater on his exceptional |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | accomplishments and many contributions to his community and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | extend congratulations to him on being named the Odessa Chamber |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of Commerce 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year; and, be it further |
