SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 424
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Kevin J. Slater, who has been named the 2019
Entrepreneur of the Year by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, An Odessa resident of 53 years, Kevin J. Slater is
the founder of Slater Controls, Incorporated, and Autrol US, a
distributor and manufacturer of industrial pressure and
temperature instruments; and
WHEREAS, He established these successful companies after
working his way through college and earning a degree at The
University of Texas of the Permian Basin; under his exemplary
leadership, these firms have expanded across the Southwest and
around the world, with locations in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona,
and South Korea; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Slater is also active in a wide range of
community activities, including the Permian Basin International
Oil Show, Junior Achievement, CASA of the Permian Basin, and
Harmony Home; in 2017, he received a Distinguished Alumni award
from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin; and
WHEREAS, A highly respected Odessa entrepreneur,
Mr. Slater has played an important role in the growth and
prosperity of the region's economy, and it is truly fitting that
he receive special recognition for his many achievements; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
Legislature, hereby commend Kevin J. Slater on his exceptional
accomplishments and many contributions to his community and
extend congratulations to him on being named the Odessa Chamber
of Commerce 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
