| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dr. Lisa Garcia, who retired on February 28, 2019, as |

| 4 | 4 | | superintendent of the Point Isabel Independent School District |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | after a distinguished 31-year career in education; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Garcia joined the Point Isabel Independent |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | School District as superintendent in 2012; she had formerly |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | served as an educator in Tennessee and Florida and in the Rio |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Grande Valley with the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | District; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Tennessee, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Knoxville, she played an important role in the district's efforts |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | to transform the teaching and learning experience with |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | innovative practices; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Garcia's commitment to excellence in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | education and her relentless passion for ensuring that students' |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | evolving needs were met served as an inspiration to the faculty |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and staff throughout the district; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary educator and administrator, she was |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | respected and admired by her colleagues and students, and her |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | presence at the head of the Point Isabel Independent School |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | District will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Lisa Garcia on her exceptional |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | service as superintendent of Point Isabel Independent School |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | District and extend to her best wishes for continued success in |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
