SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 442 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Lisa Garcia, who retired on February 28, 2019, as superintendent of the Point Isabel Independent School District after a distinguished 31-year career in education; and WHEREAS, Dr. Garcia joined the Point Isabel Independent School District as superintendent in 2012; she had formerly served as an educator in Tennessee and Florida and in the Rio Grande Valley with the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District; and WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, she played an important role in the district's efforts to transform the teaching and learning experience with innovative practices; and WHEREAS, Dr. Garcia's commitment to excellence in education and her relentless passion for ensuring that students' evolving needs were met served as an inspiration to the faculty and staff throughout the district; and WHEREAS, An exemplary educator and administrator, she was respected and admired by her colleagues and students, and her presence at the head of the Point Isabel Independent School District will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Lisa Garcia on her exceptional service as superintendent of Point Isabel Independent School District and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
