| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Jacob Alexander "Jake" Graves, who died |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | April 12, 2018, at the age of 32; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Jake Graves was an exemplary citizen who was |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | respected and admired in his community for his service and his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | many achievements; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He was born May 10, 1985, in Midland, to Mark and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Kim Graves; he graduated from the San Marcos Baptist Academy in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 2003; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, He served the nation with distinction in the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | United States Army with the 1st Cavalry Division as an |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | infantryman and cannon crewmember in Iraq; his many awards and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | commendations included the Army Commendation Medal and the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | National Defense Service Medal; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, Jessica Graves, married |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | on November 1, 2014; the members of his large and loving extended |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | family were a source of much pride and joy for him; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and kindness, he gave |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | unselfishly to others, and his generous spirit and his enthusiasm |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, son, and brother, and he |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | family of Jacob Alexander Graves; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 32 | 32 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |

| 33 | 33 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
