SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 611 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dora I. Ramos, who is retiring from the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District after a distinguished 33-year career as an educator; and WHEREAS, Dora Ramos began her teaching career in 1985 as a kindergarten teacher at Sorenson Elementary School in the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District; a few years later, she joined the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District and taught at San Carlos Elementary School and Canterbury Elementary School before joining the faculty at Flores-Zapata Elementary School, where she is concluding her notable career; and WHEREAS, She has been active in a wide array of extracurricular student activities, including Science Camp and University Interscholastic League competitions; in recognition of her exceptional skills and her rapport with her students, she was named the 2018-2019 Flores-Zapata Elementary Teacher of the Year; and WHEREAS, Through the years, her students have benefited greatly from her expert teaching methods, her sincere concern for the individual student, and her wise counsel and encouragement; and WHEREAS, An exemplary educator, she is respected and admired by her colleagues and students alike, and her presence at Flores-Zapata Elementary School will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby commend Dora I. Ramos on her exceptional service to the students of the Rio Grande Valley as an educator and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
