| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland |

| 3 | 3 | | is celebrating the grand opening of its Health Sciences and |

| 4 | 4 | | Classroom Building on May 3, 2019; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The new facility features simulated hospital |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | rooms and a nurses' and pharmacy station for hands-on training, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | as well as a 100-seat tiered lecture hall, classrooms, a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | conference room, chemistry and biology laboratories, faculty |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | offices, and private and common study areas; the building will |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | allow for the expansion of programs in nursing and other health |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | care fields and will also provide opportunities for more |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | community partnerships; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The UHCL Pearland campus broke ground on the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | three-story, $24.6 million Health Sciences and Classroom |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Building on April 28, 2017; funded through a 2015 state tuition |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | revenue bond, the state-of-the-art facility welcomed its first |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | classes in January 2019; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The opening of the Health Sciences and Classroom |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Building at the University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | demonstrates the institution's commitment to preparing future |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | health care professionals for careers in this important field, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the school as it embarks |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | on an exciting new chapter in its proud history; now, therefore, |
|---|

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate the University of Houston-Clear |
