                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 653
 WHEREAS, The University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland
 is celebrating the grand opening of its Health Sciences and
 Classroom Building on May 3, 2019; and
 WHEREAS, The new facility features simulated hospital
 rooms and a nurses' and pharmacy station for hands-on training,
 as well as a 100-seat tiered lecture hall, classrooms, a
 conference room, chemistry and biology laboratories, faculty
 offices, and private and common study areas; the building will
 allow for the expansion of programs in nursing and other health
 care fields and will also provide opportunities for more
 community partnerships; and
 WHEREAS, The UHCL Pearland campus broke ground on the
 three-story, $24.6 million Health Sciences and Classroom
 Building on April 28, 2017; funded through a 2015 state tuition
 revenue bond, the state-of-the-art facility welcomed its first
 classes in January 2019; and
 WHEREAS, The opening of the Health Sciences and Classroom
 Building at the University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland
 demonstrates the institution's commitment to preparing future
 health care professionals for careers in this important field,
 and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the school as it embarks
 on an exciting new chapter in its proud history; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
 Legislature, hereby congratulate the University of Houston-Clear
 Lake at Pearland on the grand opening of its Health Sciences and
 Classroom Building and commend all those involved in bringing
 this project to fruition; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
 prepared for the University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland as
 an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
