| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Rhonda D. Woods, who is retiring after 31 years of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | outstanding service with the Dallas Independent School |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | District; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas Woman's University, Rhonda |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Woods worked for a time supporting criminal justice programs |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | before reflecting on the life-changing potential of the field of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | education; she then embarked on a new career in education by |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | serving as a substitute teacher at Lincoln High School; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, She decided to be full-time and became a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | kindergarten teacher at T. D. Marshall Elementary School, where |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | she was named the 1998-1999 Teacher of the Year; she returned to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | school and earned master's degrees in educational administration |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and counseling from Prairie View A&M University, and she began a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | new chapter in her career by serving as a counselor at schools |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | across the district; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, she received numerous honors |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | for her work, including three Crest Awards and a Lone Star Bronze |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Award; she is retiring from her distinguished career after this |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | year of service as a counselor at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Learning Center; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, An exceptional educator, she is respected and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | admired by her colleagues and students alike, and her presence |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | with the Dallas Independent School District will be greatly |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Rhonda D. Woods on the positive |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | impact she has had on the lives of countless students and extend |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
