SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 759 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Rhonda D. Woods, who is retiring after 31 years of outstanding service with the Dallas Independent School District; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas Woman's University, Rhonda Woods worked for a time supporting criminal justice programs before reflecting on the life-changing potential of the field of education; she then embarked on a new career in education by serving as a substitute teacher at Lincoln High School; and WHEREAS, She decided to be full-time and became a kindergarten teacher at T. D. Marshall Elementary School, where she was named the 1998-1999 Teacher of the Year; she returned to school and earned master's degrees in educational administration and counseling from Prairie View A&M University, and she began a new chapter in her career by serving as a counselor at schools across the district; and WHEREAS, Through the years, she received numerous honors for her work, including three Crest Awards and a Lone Star Bronze Award; she is retiring from her distinguished career after this year of service as a counselor at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Learning Center; and WHEREAS, An exceptional educator, she is respected and admired by her colleagues and students alike, and her presence with the Dallas Independent School District will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby commend Rhonda D. Woods on the positive impact she has had on the lives of countless students and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
