| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Wendell Howard who died March 15, 2019, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | at the age of 80; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born to Margie and Howell Howard on April 6, 1938, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Wendell Howard lived in Lubbock for much of his childhood, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the family moved to Abernathy, Texas, during his junior high |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | school years; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Wendell graduated from Texas Tech University in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 1961, and he went on to build a rewarding career serving the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | domestic and international seed industry for 60 years; he took |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | great joy in his profession, and he developed lifelong |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | friendships with colleagues in the industry whom he met around |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the globe; he served in numerous volunteer leadership positions, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and he was honored by the American Seed Trade Association and the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Southern Seedsmen Association for his many contributions to the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | industry; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Wendell married the love of his life, Sandy, on |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | March 14, 1986; he was the devoted father of three children, and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | his five grandchildren and great-grandson enriched his life |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | immeasurably; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Known for his ready smile, his inquisitive |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | nature, and his generous spirit, Wendell Howard engaged in life |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | with joy and vigor; he was beloved by many, and he will long be |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | remembered with respect and admiration by all who were privileged |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | family of Wendell Howard; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 34 | 34 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
